Learn Stress Relief Techniques with KALAGNY's Women’s Committee – September 28

Wine and Shine! Join your fellow KALAGNY Women’s Committee members for an inspiring evening with Gayle Damiano of yourhappinessmatters.org.  She will guide you through simple techniques to learn how to deal with stress in a chaotic world. There will be drawings for high-quality essential oils and for a free intensive healing session with Gayle ($200 value!). Wine and delicious small bites will also be served.  Hosted by Menaker & Herrmann LLP, 10 E. 40th Street, 25th Floor (between 5th Avenue and Madison), Thursday, September 28, 6:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.

KALAGNY’s Writing Workshop - October 3

On October 3, join KALAGNY and a distinguished panel at Fordham Law School for a workshop and discussion aimed at developing critical writing skills for practicing litigators.  After a short reception (starting at 6:30 p.m.), participants will take a guided tour of the packet materials before concluding with a panel discussion featuring three important perspectives.  Topics will include common pitfalls and helpful tips for composing your briefs, memos, letters, e-mails, and much more!

Please join us at KALAGNY's inaugural Veterans and Military Networking Event on Wednesday, November 8, 2016, starting at 6:30 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by AABANY, FALA-NY, MBBA, PRBA, SABANY, LeGaL, APALA-NJ and other bar associations TBA. 

We are honored to have as our distinguished speaker the Honorable Randall T. Eng, Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department; Colonel, Judge Advocate General's Corps; New York Army National Guard; State Judge Advocate, retired.  The event will take place at Lee Anav Chung White Kim Ruger & Richter LLP, 156 5th Avenue #303 (between 20th and 21st Sts. in Manhattan).

DACA Renewal: Legal and Mental Health Event - October 1

The U.S. Attorney General has announced the rescission and “winding down” of the DACA program. If you filed a DACA renewal application and it was pending on September 5, 2017, it will be decided under the regular eligibility criteria for DACA.  If you have DACA and your status is expiring between September 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018, you must file a renewal application on or before October 5, 2017. (No new DACA applications will be accepted.)

The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY), the Asian
American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), the New York Coalition for Asian American Mental Health (NYCAAMH), and the Chinese-American Family Alliance for Mental Health (CAFAMH) will be holding a FREE one-day legal and mental health event on October 1, 2017 at Flushing Library (IRC Conference Room), 41-17 Main Street, Flushing, NY (map) to provide information and resources for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients.

Legal Assistance:  Volunteer attorneys will be on-site to help eligible DACA recipients meet the Oct. 5, 2017 renewal form submisssion deadline. Please bring all documents and paperwork. (We may be able to assist with fees.)

Mental Health Assistance:  Bilingual and bicultural AAPI mental health providers will be on-site to provide supportive counseling to DACA recipients and their families.  We will protect participants' anonymity and confidentiality.
