KALAGNY Congratulates Justice Danny K. Chun
The Honorable Danny K. Chun was appointed as Kings County's Deputy Administrative Judge for Criminal Matters.
Judge Chun started his judicial career in 1999 as a judge in the New York City Criminal Courts of Kings County. Just after a few years, he was assigned to the "Operation Spotlight" Part where he presided over the most serious misdemeanor cases. Since 2004, while sitting in Supreme Court as an Acting Supreme Court Justice, he has been relied upon to try the most complex and serious cases by the current and previous court administrations. Judge Chun currently presides over all of Kings County District Attorney's Rackets Bureau major investigation cases.
He is a trailblazer for the Korean American legal community. In 1987, he was the first Korean American to become an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office; in 1999, he was the first Korean American to become a judge in New York State. Today, he is the first Korean American to hold an administrative judicial position in New York State. He is a 1984 graduate of Johns Hopkins University (B.A. Philosophy and Political Science) and a 1987 graduate of Fordham University School of Law (J.D.).
