Invitation for Remarks Regarding Honorable Douglas Hoffman

The Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary (Committee) will be making recommendations to the Mayor concerning the qualifications of incumbent judges for reappointment to the Criminal, Family, and Interim Civil Court. Family Court Judge Douglas E. Hoffman's term will expire on March 4, 2015.

Accordingly, the Committee is requesting that our members confidentially inform them of personal experience regarding Judge Hoffman's judicial temperament, treatment of attorneys, litigants and court personnel, fairness, ethics, legal ability, industriousness, case management skills, knowledge of current substantive and procedural law, punctuality, and any other relevant observations concerning the qualifications of Judge Hoffman.

Additionally, should there be any materially adverse information, the captions of cases, docket numbers, dates of court proceedings, a brief discussion of the relevant issues, and/or minutes of the court proceedings should be forwarded to the Committee as well. Only specific and verifiable information will be useful.

Because the Committee would like the information in a timely manner, responses should be forwarded directly to the Committee:

AALDEF & the Asian American Vote

On November 4, 2014, over 580 AALDEF volunteers surveyed 4,102 Asian American voters, in 11 Asian languages, at 64 poll sites in 38 cities in 11 states – Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia – and Washington, DC about their voting encounters in the nation’s largest nonpartisan multilingual exit poll.  The exit poll reveals vital information about Asian American voting patterns that is often overlooked in mainstream voter surveys.

At these presentations, comparative information will be given about the Asian American vote in the Gubernatorial and Congressional elections, concerns about key issues, first-time voters, and profiles of the Asian American vote by ethnicity, nativity, party enrollment, age, and English proficiency.

RSVP to, subject line Spring Presentation or by phone: 800.966.5946 ext. 251.
