    On September 20, 2022, KALAGNY President, Gene Kang, met with President Yoon Suk-Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-Hee (not pictured) of South Korea at a dinner reception at the University Club in Manhattan, which was attended by Korean American community leaders and elected officials.


    President Yoon is visiting the United States to address the United Nations General Assembly and summit with President Biden. President Yoon expressed the Korean government’s continued support for Korean Americans living in the United States.


    Also pictured are Byung Hwa Chung (Consulate General of South Korea), the Honorable Judy H. Kim (New York County Supreme Court), Charles Yoon (President of the Korean American Association of Greater New York), Hannah Yu (Chief, Hate Crimes Unit, Manhattan District Attorney’s Office), Captain Chungyon Huh (NYPD), and attorneys Boyoung Paula Hyun and Yong Il Jeong.

    KALAGNY celebrates the historic nomination of Cindy K. Chung by President Biden to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.If confirmed, Ms. Chung, a Korean American, would be the first Asian American to serve as a judge on the Third Circuit.


    Prior to President Biden’s appointment, Ms. Chung served as the United State Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania since 2021. Ms. Chung served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania from 2014 to 2021. From 2009 to 2014, Ms. Chung served as a trial attorney in the Criminal Section of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. From 2003 to 2009, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office. She graduated from Columbia Law School in 2002 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1997.


    KALAGNY congratulates Ms. Chung and applauds her historic nomination.
