KALAGNY's Litigation Committee Hosts a Mediation Workshop with NAM - November 17, 2016

The Litigation Committee is partnering with NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) to provide a free CLE seminar (1.5 NY credits) on alternative dispute resolution.    You will meet with and hear from NAM’s top three neutrals, Hon. Peter B. Skelos, Susan Hernandez, and Howard J. Join KALAGNY at a Special Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner - November 23, 2016

Happy Thanksgiving to all!  KALAGNY Invites You to a Special Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner (Korean Style), organized by KALAGNY, along with its Law Student Outreach and Immigration Committees.  The dinner will run from 5:30 PM to 9 PM, on November 23, 2016 at New York University School of Law's Greenberg Lounge (at Vanderbilt Hall, located at 40 Washington Square South, New York, NY).  Special Thanks to New York University School of Law ("NYU Law") and Dean Trevor Morrison (of NYU Law).  Space is limited and registrations will be confirmed.  Practicing attorneys, law students, and members of the community are encouraged to attend for some special treats.  Since seating limited, priority will be given to members of KALAGNY and members of NYU Law's APALSA, who are welcome to bring their guests (including family members).  See the flyer here and RSVP here.

KALAGNY to Host a Seminar on Ethics - December 12, 2016

KALAGNY will present a CLE course entitled “Most Common Disciplinary Errors Made by Lawyers in 2015.”  The program will give a brief overview of the disciplinary process and discuss numerous 2015 cases where attorneys were disciplined for their misconducts.  During the discussion, rules that govern attorneys in their professional capacity will be reviewed including Part 1240 (Rules for Attorney Disciplinary Matters) and Part 603 (Conduct of Attorneys).  The program will be hosted by Rivkin Radler LLP at its New York Office, 477 Madison Avenue, 20th Floor.  CLE credits are pending.  The speaker will be Jun H. Lee, Principal Staff Attorney with the Attorney Grievance Committee, First Judicial Department.

Jun H. Lee is a Principal Staff Attorney with the Attorney Grievance Committee, First Judicial Department.  She received her Bachelor of the Arts in Government from Cornell University, and her juris doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law.  She was admitted as an attorney in New York State, Appellate Division, First Department.

As a Principal Staff Attorney with the Attorney Grievance Committee, First Judicial Department, she investigates and prosecutes professional misconduct committed by attorneys.  In 2011, Ms. Lee was designated to head up the investigation and prosecution of attorneys who practice immigration law involving allegations of professional misconduct.  Part of her duties and responsibilities include screening complaints filed with the Grievance Committee against immigration attorneys to determine whether further investigation is needed or recommendation of dismissal is appropriate.

NJSBA's Diversity Committee Reception for the Son of  late Justice Thurgood Marshall - November 30, 2016 at 3 PM

The Diversity Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) will hold a program  at the Law Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey on November 30 at 3 PM. The son of the late Justice Thurgood Marshall, John Marshall, will share the life and legacy of his iconic father as well as his own great accomplishments with a panel of distinguished New Jersey jurists and lawyers. NYC Bar Association to Host Program on Becoming a Magistrate Judge - December 5, 2016 at 8:30 AM

The NYC Bar Association is hosting a special program on how to become a magistrate judge.  Various magistrate judge positions are expected to open up in the near future in the Eastern District of New York and the Southern District of New York.  Click here to learn more and to attend the program.
