Diversity Tax Day CLE:  Tax Professionals Working with Limited English Proficiency Taxpayers
Wednesday, July 11
(CLE credit:  4.0 credits)

This free CLE is designed for tax attorneys, other tax professionals and anyone else who works on audits, appeals or tax controversy with persons having limited English proficiency.  The program will feature public and private sector practitioners speaking on a wide range of tax matters, including resident alien issues, tax audits, planning and civil and criminal tax penalties.

This Diversity Tax Day CLE will take place on Wednesday, July 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Venable LLP's Manhattan offices (Rockefeller Center, 24th Floor).  You can view the event flyer here.  For more information, please contact Margaret Ling at margaret.ling@aabany.org.

KALAGNY’s In-House Cou
nsel Committee is hosting its Summer Social at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26 at Five Iron Golf, a brand-new, state-of-the-art indoor golf and entertainment boutique located at 138 5th Ave. near Union Square. The Summer Social promises to be a fun evening of food, drinks, conversation, and games. A professional golf instructor will be on hand to provide instruction to golfers at all levels, from beginner to advanced. The venue also offers a number of other activities, such as ping-pong and shuffleboard.  The evening will also feature a presentation by in-house specialists from legal recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa to discuss in-house trends and share their advice.

The event is free of charge for all in-house counsel thanks to the generosity of our sponsor, Consilio.

CLE: Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace

Tuesday, August 14 (Credit: 1.0 Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias)

On Tuesday, August 14 at 5:30 p.m., KALAGNY and AABANY's Real Estate, Solo & Small Firm and Labor & Employment Law Committees will present a CLE discussion on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.  The event takes place at Flushing Bank's midtown Manhattan location (map) and includes a networking portion.  Light refreshments will be served.  Click here to see the event flyer (pdf) .

Join KALAGNY on October 1, 2018 for its annual Partners/In House Golf Outing at Manhattan Woods Golf Club in West Nyack (map), listed in Golf Digest's Top 100 Greatest Courses as one of New York's best.  A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated by KALAGNY to the Han C. Choi Scholarship Fund to support law students and lawyers affected by cancer.

Each team will be captained by an in-house attorney selected by a sponsor (in order of sponsorship priority level), with prizes for top teams and individual golfers.  Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of on-course contests, including hole-in-one, long drive, and closest to the pin.  Not ready for 18 holes? Participate in our golf clinic to gear up for next year!

Free Tax Seminar - Tuesday, July 10

On Tuesday, July 10 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Queens Library in Flushing (41-17 Main Street), the NYC Office of the Taxpayer Advocate will present a free taxpayer seminar on topics including getting an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), IRS and Small Business Administration programs to assist businesses and NYC business and property tax issues, all followed by a one-on-one Q&A session.  View the flyer for the Queens event here (pdf).

Free Taxpayer Assistance - Thursday, July 12

On Thursday, July 12 from 5:30-8:00 p.m., the IRS’s Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS), New York State, and NYC Advocates will be available at the Rotunda, 851 Grand Concourse in the Bronx(map) to assist taxpayers with their tax problems that they have not been able to resolve. The IRS’s Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) Policy Section will be on site to assist with ITIN applications and problem resolution.  View the flyer for the Bronx event here (pdf).

cycle, swim - it's up to you!  The money you raise is vital for the treatment, prevention and ultimately the discovery of a cure for cerebral palsy.
